The 13 combined goals by the two teams are the most in a Sutherland Cup final game since the Waterloo Siskins defeated the London Nationals 9-4 in Game 1 of the 2019 final. Ironically, the 8 goals surrendered by the Maroons are the most they’ve allowed in a playoff game since an 8-2 loss to the Falcons in Game 2 of the 2022 Sutherland Cup final.
The Falcons improved their home record in the playoffs to 8-2, while the Maroons fell to 5-6 on the road.
The goal by Mudie was the Falcons’ first power play goal of the series, snapping a 0-for-9 streak with the man advantage. The Falcons finished 1/7 on the power play and are 1/15 (6.7%) in the series.
The Maroons were 3/7 with the man advantage — their second straight game with 3 PP goals — and are 7/18 (38.9%) in the series.
Game 5 will take place Friday night at Memorial Arena in Chatham. Game time is 7:30pm.
